Continuing from last year, the second chai workshop will be organised by chai brand Rawal.
The theme of Kinan Art Week 2024, “igoku tamaru, mata igoku” (“move, gather, and move again” in the dialect of Tanabe) refers to the nature of slime molds. If this is the case, then what would be the state of a person’s “igoku tamaru, mata igoku”?
In this chai workshop, we will hold an event to promote awareness of the person/self’s state of “igoku tamaru, mata igoku”.
Firstly, participants will experience chai and artworks created by Mari Rawanchaikul, Director of Rawal, based on the concept of “Accept and Heal.” Then, participants will write a letter to true themselves, which will be the first step to “accept and heal,” in other words, to “mata igoku.”

Comments from Mari Rawanchaikul / Rawal
Chai Art Project, which I have been leading, is a project to develop and sell chai that combines Indian spices with ingredients from various regions of Japan, create related artworks, and hold exhibitions and events with chai. I have created 3 types of chai and artworks based on 3 concepts; “Moment of Love,” “Accept and Heal” and “Unconditional Love.”
During Kinan Art Week, which Rawal has been a part of since last year, I will be holding an event focusing specifically on the second concept, “Accept and Heal.” This is because when I heard about this year’s theme, “Igoku tamaru, mata igoku (move, gather and move again)” I felt that it had something in common with “Accept and Heal.” Based on this theme, I would like to do the work of “Accept and Heal” with all participants.
I hope to create a world where people can experience love and harmony through the art of chai, also wish this exhibition and event will be a moment for you to feel love and connection with yourself, your loved ones, and the world.
